Mangaluru, Jan 18: District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai questioned MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s contribution to Dakshina Kannada district.
Addressing media here on Monday, January 18, Mithun Rai said, "BJP in state and central government have not contributed enough for the development of Dakshina Kannada district. We all know that banks have been merged and there was also plans to shift the IT office from Mangaluru to Goa. In the year 2015, the central government issued an order to set up a Rapid Action Force (RAF) base camp across five places including Mangaluru. In 2016, the then IG and DGP visited the 48-acre land at Badaga Yekkar for inspection."
"Unfortunately, the RAF base camp is now shifted from Mangaluru to Shivamogga. The local MLAs and MPs are silent on this issue and have not uttered a single word against the shifting of the camp. Are people of Dakshina Kannada only meant for votes? Why is there no concern over the developmental works in the district. U S Mallya contributed towards NITK, while other Congress leaders contributed towards MRPL. Janardhana Poojary also took a revolutionary step of 'Loan Mela,' what is the contribution of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to the district?" questioned Mithun Rai.
"In upcoming days Congress will protest against the shifting of RAF base camp from Mangaluru to Shivamogga. We have brought this to the notice of KPCC president D K Shivakumar and state Congress will take the decision on it," said Mithun Rai.
Reacting to Nalin's recent statement where he termed Congress as a dead party, district Congress president Harish Kumar said, "I do not know whether Nalin Kumar Kateel follows tradition but our party does follow it. After Nalin Kumar Kateel came to power, he does not have the stability of mind. He should watch his tongue or people will deem him a comedian."
Congress leaders Anil Kumar, Girish Alva, T K Sudhir, Lawrence and Neeraj Pal were present.
