While the student response in degree colleges has been lukewarm, attendance in polytechnic and engineering colleges has gone up. It is said that this is because of practical classes.
The officials said that many students have not got intimation about college reopening, while some others are working. Many have become habituated to online classes. At the same time, as the appointment of guest lecturers has not been done, college principals are dithering from holding classes. Students from Kasargod district are not attending colleges in Dakshina Kannada because of absence of trains. Hostels have not opened. These things have affected the attendance, officials of the education department said.
