Bantwal, Jan 11: "Congress government did not receive support from the people as they favoured cattle thieves. Opposition leader Siddaramaiah lost the position of the chief minister and seat in Chamundeshwari where he claimed to have a strong ground," said state rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa. He was speaking after inaugurating Janasevaka conference held at the district BJP office in Buntara Bhavan, Bantwal.
"Siddaramaiah does not have the courage to condemn those who shouted pro-Pakistan slogan. He has also admitted to having eaten beef. Such parties who insulted cows have tasted defeat," Eshwarappa said.
"Gram panchayat elections proved disastrous for Congress. The party which won only two panchayat positions has been indulging in treason by shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan," he added.
"BJP will make sure that Ram Mandir is constructed in Ayodhya. If Congress has the audacity, let them ask for votes by promising to rebuild the Babri Masjid. We will also build Sri Krishna temple in Mathura," the minister said.
When asked about ministerial posts to Angara and Sunil Kumar, Eshwarappa said that it is necessary to first repay the debt to those who came to the party from the Opposition. The senior leaders will take a decision in that regard, he said.
Stringent punishment for anti-nationals:
"Those who shouted slogans in favour of Pakistan will have their tongues ripped out. Such actions will receive a strong response as per the law," the minister warned.
He also condemned the lack of response by Congress when cattle vigilantes were attacked.
"Congress is opposing the cattle slaughter Bill. Respecting cow is our culture. If Congress has the courage let them ask for votes by assuring that they will get beef to houses. No one from either the Muslim or Christian community will be fooled by the treacherous ways of Congress," he said.
Take part in training:
"A training programme has been arranged for candidates who won panchayat elections. 900 resource persons have been gathered from all over the country for it. The winning candidates should not remain idle as they are indebted to the voters. Congress has only given speeches in the name of the development of villages, but progress in villages was observed after the Modi government came into power. BJP activists are in the service of people whether BJP wins or loses. This selfless act has always given the party a lead in the elections," Eshwarappa said.
Solar panels in all the panchayats:
"The government has decided to install solar panels in all the gram panchayats in the state. Funds will be provided for the repairs of Anganwadi centres in the villages. It is great that a lot of women have become panchayat members. Independent candidates who have won gram panchayat elections have expressed interest in joining BJP. They should be inducted into the party. BJP should win in 150 constituencies in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. A decision should also be taken against all those who indulge in propaganda against Hindutva. Further, party leaders must ensure that the schemes by the centre and the state reach the people," he said.
BJP district president Sudarshan M who presided over the event proudly announced that BJP had won across 145 gram panchayats.
District in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that gram panchayats should work by taking the inputs from members. "The caste and income certificates would be issued in villages itself. All the gram panchayat members will have to obtain the training meant to understand the procedure as it is vital to know the law," he said. Kota also requested Eshwarappa to raise the honorarium of the panchayat members by Rs 2,000.
Member of Rajya Sabha, Raitha Morcha president Iranna Kadadi urged the elected members to live up to the expectations of the villagers.
Senior BJP leaders were present. BJP Bantwal block committee president Devappa Poojary welcomed the gathering. Puttur rural mandal president Saja Radhakrishna Alva rendered the vote of thanks. District BJP chief secretary Ramadas Bantwal compered the programme.
