Many, including the reigning president, are in the fray for the coveted post. In addition, this election has generated curiosity on many counts.

Polling will be held through IYC app on Tuesday January 12. The time of casting online votes will be from 9 am to 4 pm. The district has 3,556 voters.

Clockwise: Pradeep V Shetty, Deepak Kotian, Vishwas V Amin and Krishna Shetty

Current president Vishwas Amin, who is organizing the activities of the party with lots of enthusiasm is in the forefront of the contest. In addition, Deepak Kotian, president of Karkala block youth Congress, Pradeep Shetty Nallur, who handles social media of Udupi district for Congress, Krishna Shetty, vice president of Karkala block youth Congress and Mohammed Salam of Thekatte Kundapur are also in the fray.

The speciality of the election is that two contestants from Karkala block itself are contesting for the post of president. Out of these aspirants, some have identified themselves in national level activities of the party, while others have dedicatedly involved themselves in party activities at district and block level.

Candidature of current president Vishwas Amin has surprised even the senior leaders of the party. Some Congress leaders have kept themselves aloof from the campaigning for the contestants.

Vishwas Amin has won the hearts of people as he provided food to the poor during Covid pandemic and also rendered helping hand to patients. He is also inspiring youngsters to go for achievement in the sports field. In addition, he has taken leadership in organizing protests against the anti-people, anti-farmer policies of the ruling party. He has also raised his voice against the cement scam, illegal sand stock and transportation and illegal transportation of wooden logs by BJP leaders. Vishwas also organized protests against the price hike of fuel and cooking gas. In the illegal sand stock scam, he has collected documents and has daringly questioned the district administration as well as the state government. Vishwas has formed his own team and is inspiring the youth of the district all the while.

Krishna Shetty, vice president of Karkala block youth Congress, who is also one of the aspirants, identified himself in the party through NSUI during his college days and is with youth Congress for the past four to five years in block level. He actively organized anti-democracy policies of BJP and has organized youth Congress efficiently. After completing his degree, he has registered himself in the list of aspirants for the post of district youth Congress president.

Deepak Kotian, president of Karkala block youth Congress is in the forefront of social works and organizing the party. In addition, he has attracted the attention of everyone by getting highest votes in the gram panchayat elections that were held recently in which Congress regained power in Karkala legislative constituency.

One more aspirant, who is in the fray, Pradeep Shetty Nallur is active in managing the social media of Congress party. He has united youths through social media and strengthened the party.

Mohammed Salam of Thekkatte, who is also contesting for the post of district president has identified himself in block level activities of the party.

On the whole, it needs to be seen whether those who have the skill to take senior and junior leaders of the party into confidence will win the post or will the candidates supported by senior leaders of the party will be victorious. It is also interesting to see whether the youth Congress voters will opt for a new face this time. Countdown for the fierce contest has begun.

Todays educate youth and Congress supporters and youth leaders, please work hard and with sincere efforts to up lift party image and serve for peoples needs. We are going through worst phase of our independent secular morals and skipping the basic norms of democracy to dictatorial rule of BJP. Things are created by force under the disguise of majority community & power which is against our secular constitution. In India there are so many minority religion people and they have their own choice of food and snatching their rights is against humanity. Republic of India does not fall under any Kingdom or Royal rule.
