Mangaluru, Jan 11: Aiming to improve the greenery and for the purpose of recreation Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will develop six parks in the city.
Under the 15th State Finance Commission, the government has sanctioned Rs 23.45 crore for the year 2020-21. In this regard, the city corporation has finalised the action plan as per the guidelines issued by the government.
Of the amount, Rs 1,56,30,000 will be spent for the development of the six parks. Parks to be developed are-Park in Bangrakuloor ward at the cost of Rs 63 lac, park near Bhagavathi Temple in Kambala ward Rs 15 lac, park in Mangalanagara park and Jeppu park in Mangala Devi ward at the cost of Rs 30 lac, Park in Padavu west ward at the cost of Rs 18 lac and park at Kadri north ward at the cost of Rs 10.30 lac and a park near Mayor Bungalow in Mannagudda ward at the cost of Rs 20 lac.

Play area for children, a walking track would come in these identified parks.
According to the officials in the corporation, the developed parks will be also maintained. Detailed Project report will be developed very soon.
Development of crematorium
The city corporation has come forward to develop three crematoriums in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 1.56 crore. The crematoriums to be developed are Nandigudda in Attavar ward at an estimated cost of Rs 36.33 lac, at Bajal ward at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lac and at Surathkal at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore.
