Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 10: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday January 10 recorded 39 new cases of novel coronavirus while Udupi continued to maintain its single-digit daily count with six new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 5,25,292 samples have been tested so far, out of which 4,92,037 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 33,255, out of which only 465 are currently active.
As many as 32 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 32,058.
The district has so far recorded 732 deaths due to coronavirus.
Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 23,46,870 as fine in 22,139 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,12,456 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,89,261 have turned out to be negative.
Six new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 23,195, out of which only 99 are currently active.
Nine patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,907.
Out of six new patients, three are in home isolation while three others are in COVID hospitals or care centres.
Among the six, four are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported four of the six cases, Karkala reported the other two.
The district has reported 189 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
