Mangaluru, Jan 10: Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress president Mithun Rai will not be contesting for the position of state Youth Congress chief.
According to a statement issued by him here late on Saturday January 9, he has withdrawn from the election on the advice of KPCC president D K Shivakumar.
"Dear Friends, as you all know elections for Karnataka state youth Congress committee will be held from January 11 to 13," he announced on his official Facebook page.
"As I am a close aide of KPCC president D K Shivakumar, I am withdrawing my candidature from the election for the post of president as per the direction of KPCC president.
"I request everyone to take active part in the Youth Congress election," he said.
Mithun Rai was one of the top contenders for the post of Karnataka Youth Congress president, along with Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of MLA N A Haris, Youth Congress social media and media coordinator Raksha Ramaiah and NSUI state president Manjunath. Rai had even started his campaign on social media.
The election will be held between January 10 to 12 online.
