Panaji: 'Open for talks over IIT site issue' - CM

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Jan 9: Responding to the protest going on at the Goa-IIT site, chief minister Pramod Sawant said that he was open to discussions with Melauli villagers for an amicable solution.

"I don't want to trouble them. They should come and meet me. I have invited them to Panaji," Sawant said.

Sawant alleged that some NGOs and political parties are instigating the villagers not to visit for discussion even though the villagers want to do so.

The chief minister appealed to the villagers to let the government conduct the demarcation survey and said that building an IIT is a path towards development. "IIT is an issue of development and parties and NGOs are here to stop all development," Sawant said.
