Brahmavar, Jan 6: A short circuit led to a major accident in a hotel in Brahmavar. The mishap is believed to have taken place around 8 to 8.30 pm Wednesday, January 6.
The incident took place in Saptami hotel near Akashvani in the city. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. It is likely that the cause of the short circuit is due to the thunderstorms and lightning experienced in the district.
The hotel belongs to Satish Shetty, resident of Nadur village, who has been operating the establishment for three years.
After the hotel was shut down for the day, the incident is said to have taken place. Emergency services arrived on time and were able to douse the fire, preventing the other shops from getting perished in the flames.
The kitchen appliances and most of the electrical items were destroyed in the disaster. There was Rs 30,000 in the cash register, important documents all of which perished in the fire. However, the total value of the loss has not been estimated yet.
The incident took place in Brahmavar police station limits.
