Mangaluru, Jan 6: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar, said that KPCC has declared this year as the year of organizing and struggles. "We will fight to get justice for constituency level issues. We have also decided to visit 100 to 150 constituencies where Congress candidates lost the elections to understand what went wrong. KPCC will become the voice for the issues that may be raised by the block Congress activists," he said.
He was speaking at a meeting organized at Amblamogaru here on Tuesday January 5. The meeting was meant to express gratitude and thank the workers of Mangaluru assembly constituency.
He exhorted the people to question BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, about the advantages the people had enjoyed, after electing so many BJP legislators from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. He also urged the government to waive all kinds of taxes in the light of miseries heaped on the people by the coronavirus pandemic.
"A party cannot be run merely on the basis of caste and religion. The sweat and blood which flows in all bodies are the same. Our birth is accidental, and death is the only permanent thing. No one takes birth after applying for specific castes. Still, the BJP is being run on the basis of caste and religion whereas the Congress is marching ahead with the slogan that all are one. I do not care about who will be the next chief minister, but my aim is to see that the Congress flag flutters over the Vidhana Soudha," he stated.
District Congress Committee president Harish Kumar, youth Congress president Mithun Rai, former MLAs J R Lobo and Shakuntala Shetty, former Rajya Sabha member B Ibrahim, district Wakf board president U K Monu, Mahila Congress state president Pushpa Amarnath, district women's Congress president Shalet Pinto and others were present.
