Mangaluru, Jan 3: In a shocking incident that has come to light late, derogatory writing against Hinduism and proposing superiority of another community is found written on letters and photocopies of currency notes, in offertory boxes of three 'Daivastanas' of the city.
The locals suspect that this is the act of miscreants who want to disturb communal harmony. These letters were found in two offertory boxes of Attavar Babugudde Sri Babbuswamy Daivastana and one box of Kottara Kallurti Daivastana.
In the offertory box of Attavar Babugudde Sri Babbuswamy Daivastana, derogatory writing about Hinduism was found on one side of the photocopy of Rs 200 currency note. This act came to light when the box was opened on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
In the offertory box of the same Daivastana at Attavar Babugudde, which is near the first box, derogatory writing was found on one side of photocopy of Rs 20 currency note.
The Daivastana committee has filed a complaint with Pandeshwar police station on Saturday January 2. Police have visited the spot.
Locals joined together and prayed with the deity to punish the offenders. A derogatory letter was found in the offertory box of a Daivastana near Nanthoor some time ago. Police suspect that the same gang is behind this act also.
In the offertory box of Kottara Kallurti Daivastana, a long letter praising one community was found on November 11 last year.
