When the girl, who had left home to attend Vidyagama at her school did not return even at 3 pm, her family members called her teacher and learnt that she did not attend the programme. They then went searching for her and found her body hanging from a cashew tree in a hillock some distance away from her home. She had used the veil of her uniform to make a noose.
Divya's elder sister, who works for a private concern, had invited Divya to accompany her to school on the way to her office, but Divya told her that she would be leaving a little bit later. When a relative offered to drop her to school in his motorbike, she had refused. She later left home by walk in the guise of attending school and then ended her life.
Bellare police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
