Mysuru, Dec 25: Congress spokesperson M Lakshman has claimed thiat the JD(S) and the BJP had entered into a 'secret pact' to defeat former chief minister and leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah. He said that the agreement was relating to defeating Siddaramaiah and his son and the understanding was reached in respect of Varuna, Chamundeshwari and Badami constituencies, duly asserting that he was telling the truth.

"The JD(S) and the BJP had planned to d feat Siddaramaiah and his son, but they succeeded in their plan only in Chamundeshwari," he stated.
He also said that deputy chief minister, Ashwath Narayan, decides who should be the JD(S) candidates in these three elections. He questioned Kumaraswamy what expression other than secret pact can be used for this arrangement.
No merger, says Datta
Meanhile, Veteran JD(S) leader and former MLA, Y S V Datta, speaking at Gangavathi, termed the merger of the JD(S) with the BJP as impossible. He was addressing a press meet organised on Thursday at a private hotel there.
Datta termed the central and state government as anti-farmer, anti-worker and anti-daily wage earners. These governments have been giving impetus only to IT and BT sectors. If the central government continues on these lines, the farmers will stop tilling their land and it need not come as surprise if the country faces food shortage, he said.
On this occasion, JD(S) leades,workers and representatives of Brahman Samaj, felicitated him. Several party leaders were present.
