Bengaluru, Dec 24: MP and president of BJP national Yuva Morcha, Tejasvi Surya said that Love Jihad is not pertaining to Hindu-Muslim issue but is very serious matter of protecting the rights of girls.
Speaking at an interactive programme, Tejasvi said, "If non-Muslim girls marry a Muslim boy, then it should be made mandatory to register such a marriage under Special Marriage Act. In addition, if the marriage held under Hindu heir, then the rights of girls will be protected.
"Love Jihad is not an issue between Hindus and Muslims. If a Hindu or Christian girl marries a Muslim boy, she will not get the legal protection which she is eligible to if she marries a boy from her own religion. Our motto is that the rights of non-Muslim girls, who marry a Muslim boy should be protected.
There is an opportunity to resolve this issue through minor change rather than implementing new law. That is why it should be made mandatory to register the marriage of a non-Muslim girl to a Muslim boy under the special marriage act,” he said.
