Bengaluru, Nov 30: N R Santhosh, political secretary of chief minister B S Yediyurappa, said that he mistook sleeping tablets for his regular tablet, which ended him being hospitalized.
Speaking to the media after getting discharged from M S Ramaiah hospital Santhosh said, "I had participated in a family marriage function three days ago. After having food I felt indigestion. So I took a sleeping tablet instead of the required tablet. So my wife got scared as my health deteriorated and got me admitted to the hospital."
When the scribes questioned as to why he took sleeping tablets, Santhosh said, "I have the habit of popping up a sleeping tablet whenever I do not get sleep. I used to take only half a tablet. The dosage in that would be low. Day before yesterday I took the whole tablet by mistake. So my health got upset."
Dr Naresh Shetty of M S Ramaiah hospital said, "It is not good for Santhosh to be with lots of people at present. We have advised him to go for counselling. Santhosh has not given any statement to the police. He can give a statement in the next phase."
Santhosh, who took sleeping tablets on the night of Friday, was shifted to the general ward of the hospital on Saturday. A FIR is registered in Sadashivanagar police station against Santhosh under IPC section 309 (attempt to suicide). So he has to give a police statement explaining the reason behind his act.
