Mangaluru: Inflammatory graffiti on walls - Police seek public's help to nab culprits

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (AJD)

Mangaluru, Nov 29: With no headway in the cases related to the appearance of provocative graffiti on walls in the city, the Mangaluru police have sought help from the public to nab the culprits.

Mangaluru police have appealed to citizens to report any information regarding the culprits involved in writing the graffiti.

In a statement released to the media, police have said that the case has already been registered with this regard and strict action would be taken against the culprits.

Police have appealed to citizens to call on 9480802304 or 9480802305 or control room number 0824-2220800 or contact any near police station with any available information. The identity of informant will be kept confidential.

On Friday November 27, graffiti was found on the wall of an apartment building near Circuit House in the city, in support of terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Taliban. On Sunday November 29, another provocative graffiti threatening 'beheading' as 'punishment for offending the Prophet' was found on a wall in the court premises.

Three teams led by ACP of central subdivision, police inspector Savithra Theja of Kadri police station and CCB inspector Mahesh Prasad are on the hunt for the culprits.

Help of experts is also being sought by the police to identify the accused. There is a possibility that the graffiti was written using spary paint. It is said that by using spray paint, the miscreants might have finished the job in 15 minutes.

Police have tightened security in the city during night to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

In the meantime, MLA U T Khader and Dakshina Kannada district Congress president K Harish Kumar have urged the government to identify the culprits and take severe action. Several organizations, people representatives and political leaders have also expressed their anguish at the act and have pressurized the police to arrest the offenders as soon as possible.
