11 Hindu Right Wing Activists Charged for Goa Blast

Panaji, May 17 (IANS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday filed charges in a court against 11 activists of a Hindu right wing organisation for the 2009 Diwali-eve blast that killed two people in Goa's Margao town.

The accused are facing charges of conspiring and collecting arms for waging a war against the state and mischief.

All 11 people named in the charge sheet are members of Hindu right wing organisation Sanatan Sanstha, whose members were also linked to several low-intensity explosions in Maharashtra some years back.

The charge sheet, numbering about 3,000 pages, was filed before Sessions Judge U.V. Bakre.

The investigating agency also listed among the accused two Sanatan Sanstha members who were killed in the accidental blast that took place while they were ferrying explosives to a festival gathering in Margao, 35 km from here, Oct 16, 2009.

The two accused who died in the blast were Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik.

The charge sheet names 250 witnesses, who are likely to be examined by the local court during the trial.

Those named as accused include Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil, Dhananjay Ashtekar, all residents of Goa, and Dilip Mangaonkar, a resident of Maharashtra. They all are at present in judicial custody.

Other accused named in the charge sheet are Prashant Juvekar, Sarang Akolkar, Jayaprakash, Rudra Patil and Prashant Ashtekar, all residents of Maharashtra. They all are absconding.

Giving details of the sequence of events before the blast, the NIA said that Ashtekar rigged 12 electronic detonator circuits in Pune and out of these he set aside five for the intended explosion in Goa.

The charge sheet said that a dry run was also carried out by the accused a couple of months before the Diwali-eve blast.

The investigation into the Margao blast was initially conducted by a special investigation team (SIT) of Goa Police, but was later handed over to the NIA.

Apart from facing charges for waging war against the state, they have also been charged under the Explosive Substance Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Goa Govt is able to charge within a year but yeddy's govt did'nt able to do any efforts for the several anti-social actvities that had happened more than a year, instead they closed out most of the cases in favour of these kind of elements. It shows BJP is fully supporting to do these kind of anti-social element activities for the sake of votes.

Organisations which believe in the them of 'chidren of God' should not indulge in any activities which is disliked by God. It is where they face the wrath of God immediately on their wrong doing. The terrorist of other kind who do not believe in children of God or God not known to them, are given life to improve themselves but finally meet the same fate. In short, you cannot preach and practice two extremes of God's Principles.

So it is right time now to forget religion aspect in terrorism. We Indians should co-operate each other to remove our own terrorists who are not less dangerous than the outsiders. In this regard I like the comments by Mr. Shankar, Dubai/M’lore showing the right approach.

    Shankar,
One should be proud to be an Indian and condemn these terrorits who commit a crime against fellow indians and against indian state. Criminals don't have a religion because they only believe in harming the humanity. Hang them all like Kasab.

There are fundamentalists and right wing people in all religions and no one can deny the fact. So people who claim that hindus cant be terrorist are wrong. Though hinduism like any other religion preaches and practices peace and love, there are some misguided blackc sheeps who bring defame to their religion by indulging in activities that are opposed to the tenets of the religion they follow.

Terrorism is not confined and restricted to one particular community/reigion. Its a virus. This needs to be checked and contained. Please dont be emotional. This is the time to call spade a spade. If we lose this opportunity to unite and condemn/fight terrorism, we may have to repent later. Fundamentalism breeds hate and terror. Middle path and moderate approach in religion is the need of the hour. One must respect others feelings and religions. Everybody thinks his religion is fine and the best and rest are not good. This is a wrong notion and this feeling is the main cause for unrest and hatred. Al religion preach good things only. Lets bear in our mind that one is born into that religion by destiny and by God's will and it is certainly not by choice. If it were a choice then I am sure a dalit would want to take birth as Brahmin and become a seer later. Lets treat all human beings as one and equal to each other and all have the same feelings and everyones blood is red and no ones blood is green or saffron in colour. Its the ideology thats is green or saffron. Live and let live.

I was under the impression that only a particular minority community belongs to terrorism (as always defined by majority). Now it is evident that there are so many Kasabs within our own house who are more dreadlier than that of outside terrorists. However, these Kasabs will go unpunished because they are killing innocent people for a genuine cause to protect Hinduism.
