Mangaluru, Nov 27: Mangaluru city police intercepted a tourist car bearing the Maharashtra number plate MH-12-KN-6119. The car was carrying ganja from Hyderabad to Mangaluru and Kerala.
The police officials seized the vehicle near Adu Maroli Suryanarayana temple entrance, along the Padil-Bikarnakatte road on Friday, November 27.
Two accused have been arrested in this connection.
The arrested identified as Ibrahim Madanoor and Abdul Nizad are residents of Kasargod. Over 24 kg ganja valued at Rs 3.60 lac, a Nissan Sunny tourist car worth Rs 2 lac and three mobile phones valued at Rs 13,000 has been confiscated from their possession. The total value of the items seized is reported to be Rs 5.73 lac.
Economic offences and narcotics crime branch police inspector KK Ramakrishna and staff conducted the operation on the directions of deputy SP Hariram Shankar and Vinay Gaunkar under the guidance of police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikas.
