Bengaluru, Nov 27: The political developments of the state seem to be more than that of a thriller movie. Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa is now trying to resolve the issue of formation of Veershaiva Lingayat development authority after his plan of Maratha Development Authority formation caused chaos in the whole state.
Due to these issues, the Cabinet expansion, which is long due, is put on hold. In the cabinet meeting that was held on Friday November 27, it was expected to take a final decision on the formation of cabinet extension and formation of Veerashaiva Lingayat authority. But the BJP high command objected to the formation of Veerashaiva Lingayat authority. So CM Yediyurappa is in a fix now. That matter was not discussed in the cabinet meeting at all. In addition, no discussion was done on extension of state cabinet.
CM Yediyurappa was to hold a press conference after the meeting. However, he cancelled the same suddenly. Minister Madhuswamy appraised the press about the matters that were discussed in the cabinet meeting. At the same time, CM Yediyurappa said that cabinet extension matter will be taken up in another two days’ time.
According to sources at CM's office, there is a possibility that decision will be taken on the extension of Cabinet on Monday or after. CM Yediyurappa has already discussed the matter with union home minister Amit Shah. If called, Yediyurappa will go to Delhi and discuss the matter for the final time. Otherwise, the same will be done telephonically. Yediyurappa is going to complete his Shivamogga tour on Sunday November 29 and return to Bengaluru.
The aspirants for the minister position got frustrated as the Cabinet expansion matter was deferred further. MTB Nagaraj, R Shankar and H Vishwanath expressed their unhappiness in the presence of CM himself. All the three leaders who have migrated from other parties to BJP said to Yediyurappa, "Sir, whenever you see us you say that you are going to extend the Cabinet. You have continuously postponed the extension of Cabinet. Are we not responsible for you to attain power? Do not forget that because of our sacrifice, you have come to power." Though Yediyurappa tried to pacify them, their anger did not diminish.
Some eminent ministers were absent in the cabinet meeting that was held on Friday November 27. Dr K Sudhakar and K S Eshwarappa are busy in the Hyderabad elections. R Ashok and Ramesh Jarkiholi were partaking in the pooja programme of C T Ravi's office. Jagadish Shettar did not attend cabinet meeting even though he was in the city.
