Mangaluru, Nov 26: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V advised the concerned to mandatorily follow the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government.
He was addressing a meeting of degree college principals, sub-divisional officer, tahsildars and health officers held in the city on Wednesday, November 25.
The deputy commissioner said that as per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission, guidelines about resuming academic activities in all the colleges in the state have been issued. "Physical presence of students in classes should never be made compulsory. Students should be allowed to attend classes only if they have got themselves RT-PCR test three days in advance and produce negative reports.
District health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy said that COVID-19 tests have been conducted on 19,402 persons including college lecturers, office staff and students so far, and out of them, 45 have tested positive. He advised the principals to get in touch with the medical officers of the nearby health centre and arrange for the ÇOVID tests for their students.
Additional deputy commissioner M J Roopa, sub-divisional officer Madan Mohan and others were present.
