Udupi, May 16: Shatavadhani, Dr R Ganesh, has been chosen for the ‘Sediyapu Award’ for the year 2010, informed Prof Heranje Krishna Bhat, director of Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Research Centre here.
Ganesh, who was born in 1962, has completed engineering degree, postgraduate degree in Sanskrit and DLitt in Kannada. He has scholarly grip over many subjects, and hence, is able to conduct ‘Shatavadhanas’. The diversity of subjects over which he has written his 35 published books, is surprising, Bhat said. He also explained that Ganesh, who has command over science, literature, art, religious scriptures and many other subjects, has also contributed to Yakshagana immensely by being the director of the solo Yakshagana performances of Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhyaya and by writing prose for them.
Dr R Ganesh, whose lectures on various subjects are available in CD form, has earned several awards and honours so far. The Sediyapu award will be conferred on him at a function being held in Karkala in association with Karkala Sahitya Sangha on June 8, he revealed.
