Mangaluru, Nov 25: Police inspector of cybercrime police station B C Girish and personnel of E & NC arrested two people on the charges of posing as senior police officers and also threatening a man of posting his obscene photos on social media if he does not pay the demanded money.
The arrested accused are identified as Gokulraju (20) and Pavan L (20), both residents of Bengaluru.
As per the details available, the accused created a fake Facebook account in the name of a woman named Sakshiraj and befriended complainant Rajesh, resident of KPT in the city. The accused got a woman to call the complainant and sent obscene and nude photos to the complainant in the beginning. Later they asked Rajesh, the complainant, to send his nude photos.
Once the accused got the nude photos of the complainant, they demanded money and threatened to post his photos on social media if he does not agree to pay the amount that they demanded. They also posed over phone calls as senior police officers.
A team as per the guidance of city police commissioner Vikas Kumar was formed by DCP (crime and traffic) Vinay V Gaonkar. The team was led by police inspector of cybercrime police station B C Girish and personnel of E & NC police station, who were successful in nabbing the culprits.
The arrested accused were presented in the court and later remanded to judicial custody.
