In unique protest, Mithun Rai ‘renames’ Mangaluru airport after Koti Chennayya

Mangaluru, Nov 25: District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai has come up with a unique way of protest in the party’s demand to rename Mangaluru International Airport to Koti Chennayya airport.

Since Adani Group took over the management of Mangaluru airport, Congress and several other organisations opposed the move of privatising the airport. A few like-minded organisations also demanded to highlight name of Mangaluru airport than Adani Group in the boards on the way to the airport.

District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai has installed four hoardings at the entrance and exit points of the airport which says ‘Welcome to Koti Chennayya Airport’ in a unique way of protest.

It may be recalled that Congress had conducted hunger strike and torch light march demanding the renaming of the airport. It is gathered that Congress is planning to organise indefinite hunger strike in the coming days.

    If Mithun Rai has children, I would like to know what names he has kept for them. If he has boys, let him first rename them as Koti & Chennayya, instead of creating public menace. Instead of having a filmy name, he too can change his name as Koti.

    While naming an airport ,authorities do not keep it mind how difficult it is to pronounce such words for international crew on board the flight. The names for terminal be given in simple word as this is Mangaluru and it can be called Mangaluru international airport. There are so many important issues to be addressed rather than naming places

    Shuba, Mangaluru you are right. Mangaloreans and politicians are bothered only about such silly silly issues like keeping names and not actual development.

    See other cities how it is developing. Let the name be Mangalore International Airport only. First improve the facilities in the airport. There are no proper modes of transport outside airport. Olla and volvo buses are not allowed in the mlore airport. Local taxi wallas wait outside to loot the passengers

    Where was this joker when the process of handing over the airport to Adani Group was underway? These comedians don't realise that by doing this kind of dramas they become butts of joke. Can someone drive some sanity into their heads. If he takes some constructive steps to rename the airport as he wants it to be and succeeds, then I believe his present actions. By the way, driving around Hampankatta is a nightmare. Probably Mithun Rai sits in the back seat of his car wearing dark glasses while going around this area. I am reminded of ದೀಪದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಲು. His city is in shambles and he is bothered about something in the outskirts.

    RaGa during the Bihar election campaign screamed about Rafael, China incursion, and Economy .
    However the poor people could not relate to this and got utterly confused. The election results are in front of you. Similarly out here Mithun is after an airport, that most of the poor middle class and lower Thuluvas do not even use and does not even affect them . I myself checked with couple of them, they are least bothered of not aware of Adani managing airport. Whats the use then?? Moreover the request to rename has already been put up by Nalin and team thru the right protocal. For sure Nalin or BJP will reap the credits if its renamed. I think Mithun should involve and resolve some other burning issues that affect common man. For instance he can involve in the issue of full school fees been charged for not attending . At least get a rebate some discount, These moves remain in peoples mind.

    FYI, Adani has won the concession to operate, manage and develop Airport, he has not bought it. It should be not be Adani's wish, it should be always Mangalorean Wish.
