Bengaluru, Nov 25: Even as state education minister, S Suresh Kumar, sounded a warning saying that the students cannot be treated as failed for the non-payment of fee, Associated of Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka has warned that online classes would be suspended for defaulting students if fee remains unpaid.
On Monday, Suresh Kumar had said that the schools cannot fail the students because of non-payment of fee. Reacting to the warning, secretary of the above organisation, D Shashikumar, said that many schools are finding it hard to run the schools as many parents have not paid the fee. He felt that the education department is not justified to issue instructions to all the schools based on the behaviours of a few prestigious schools.

"We have to pay salary to our teachers. Needs of the schools have to be met. We depend on the fee paid by the students for all these expenses. It becomes very difficult to run the schools if the schools are barred from pressurizing thie parents to pay the fee. We will keep those students who fail to pay the fee outside the coverage of the online classes, “he said.
He asked the government to refund the RTE fee if it wants the schools not to levy fee to parents. He also asked the government to provide 75 percent of fee on behalf of the parents so that the school managements can provide free education. He also demanded exemption from taxes, electricity bill, water bill etc and to pay minimum salary to teachers and non-teaching staff. He also sought the demand of the organization to be met when opening of schools lest he warned of holding protest.
