Bengaluru, Nov 23: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that he is confident of more than 80 percent of the gram panchayats (GP) coming into the party fold in the forthcoming gram panchayat election.
He was speaking after inaugurating a meeting of party leaders held in the city on Monday November 23 towards making preparations for the upcoming election. The party proposes to organise Gram Swaraj conventions all over the state in connection with the gram panchayat election.
Kateel said that the party will give opportunities for candidates from all the castes to fight in the gram panchayat election. He also revealed that six teams led by state level office bearers of the party have been formed to boost the preparations. These teams will be led by Nalin Kumar Kateel, K S Eshwarappa, Govind Karjol, Laxman Savadi and R Ashok, he stated.
Rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa opined that the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released highest grants for the panchayats will help the party to register a thumping victory in the coming election.
National organizing general secretary B L Santhosh, deputy chief ministers C N Ashwath Narayan and Laxman Savadi, revenue minister R Ashok, and social welfare minister B Sriramulu, were present.
