Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 22: The twin coastal districts on Sunday November 22 continued to maintain a steady decline in the number of coronavirus cases, Dakshina Kannada recording 46 new cases, and Udupi 23.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 3,34,986 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,03,420 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 31,566, out of which only 577 are currently active.
As many as 51 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 30,285.
A total of 704 deaths due to coronavirus have been recorded in Dakshina Kannada so far.
Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 15,00,612 as fine in 13,865 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,26,004 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,03,492 have turned out to be negative.
A total of 23 cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,512, out of which only 199 are currently active.
As many as 19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,127.
Out of 23, only three have been admitted to hospital, while the rest are in home isolation.
As many as 11 of them are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 11 of the 23 cases, Kundapur recorded 7, Karkala 3 and two were from outside the district.
Altogether, 187 deaths due to COVID have been reported in the district so far.
