Mangalore, May 13: The 15th Young Christian Students (YCS) and Young Students Movement (YSM) National Council will be held at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjody, here from Friday May 14 to THursday May 20.
The delegates from all over India will take part in the council, to discuss and reflect on the theme ‘Students for a green and harmonious world.’ The main thrust of the council will be global warming, climate change, its causes and effects and the rule of students in making the world Green and Harmonious. Food crisis, human values and divine plan for harmonious existence of man and nature will be the other topics take prominence at the Council.
YCS/YSM are a movement for young students of all faiths within the age group of 13 – 18 years. The aim of the movement is ‘Building a new society,’ with a methodology of See: Judge: Act. Through this movement, it promotes the leadership qualities, personality development and human values among the youth.
The fifteenth National council will be inaugurated at 6.30 pm on Friday May 14. Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the programme. Pilikula Nisargadhama executive director J R Lobo will be the chief guest and YCS/YSM Asian director Fr Vincent Monteiro will be the guest of honour.
The closing ceremony will be held at 6.30 pm on Thursday May 20.
