Byndoor, Nov 19: Mobile phone towers that have no authorisation or documents to build them are coming up in rural areas like Byndoor and Shiroor since sometime. A private company has been building a mobile tower very near to the residential area near Dombe within Shiroor village. Foundation work for this tower has been completed.
Before the construction of mobile towers, general guidelines for such a construction, location, design, approved project, copy of the ownership right, certificate about creative stability, contract agreement, certificate of residence, tower area, anti-lightning technology, fire department certificate and other documents from the local gram panchayats have to be obtained.
But in this case, none of the rules have been met. In most cases, without following government rules, the concerned discuss with the gram panchayat members or officials and go ahead. Similar attempt was made near Dombe. After the locals opposed it and complained to the gram panchayat, the work was immediately stopped by the panchayat development officer.
Panchayat development officer of Shiroor viilage, Manjunath Shetty, said that the said mobile tower has not been permitted and work was stopped immediately on getting information. He said that if a mobile tower is built without required documents, those who gave the land for the same will be held responsible.
