27-year-old poker player arrested in theft case in Goa


Panaji, Nov 18 (IANS): A 27-year-old professional poker player was arrested in Goa on Wednesday, in connection with a $3300 theft case booked in the national capital on November 5.

The accused Amrita Sethi, who is also a model, was detained by the Goa Police at Arpora village in North Goa and later handed over to a Delhi Police team who arrived in Goa following the detention of Sethi and an associate Akshat Jhamb.

According to a statement issued by the Crime Branch of the Goa Police on Wednesday, the duo were detained in connection with a crime allegedly committed on November 5 in the national capital.

"Being a professional poker player and regular visitor to Goa, it was suspected that she may have come to Goa. It was found that the accused persons had visited some casinos in Goa recently. They were both eventually traced in Arpora," Superintendent of Police (Crime) Shobit Saksena told reporters.
