Bengaluru: Police issue NBW against Congress leader Sampat Raj absconding for a month

Bengaluru, Nov 13 (IANS): The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch police have issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against former Mayor and Congress leader R. Sampat Raj for his alleged role in the Bengaluru riots. Raj is absconding for almost month now.

Earlier this month, the CCB police had pasted notices on the properties owned by Raj and his relative who is also absconding.

The police had filed a 400-page preliminary chargesheet against Raj, in which they stated that Raj was instigating a violent mob which set Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy's house on fire on August 11.

Congress MLA Murthy is a representative from the Pulakeshi Nagar constituency.

DJ Halli and KG Halli areas in Bengaluru witnessed widespread violence on August 11 night following an insidious Facebook post by R. Naveen, who is the nephew of Murthy.

Hundreds of protesters had trooped in as reports about the local police hesitating to initiate action against Naveen came in. The enraged mob went berserk and indulged in arson, setting on fire police and private vehicles. The mob also set Murthy's house in Pulakeshi Nagar on fire besides vandalising it.

Delhi CM Shri Kejriwal, after reviewing the surmountable, hard evidence, of meticulously, executing the communal riots in Delhi, on the eve of President Donald Trump, historical visit to Delhi, promptly expelled AAP neata Tahir Hussain, from the party !!! Wonder if the High command from 10th Janpath, will have the gumption, to sack Congress ex mayor Sampath Raj, from the party or will it continue to harbor this criminal for political gains !!!!

I doubt it, Anyways forget where he joins. The pragmatic question is that he is guilty and he RAN. Running and hiding culture has to be stopped. Reminds me of the CAA /NRC protests where one section provoked and another faction remained indoors appearing 'online' the next days to bash Modi/BJP. This is not done!

A.M. Belma,, Good holistic view . Though i am against damaging of public property, I tend to agree with your views. One should not get carried away emotionally when provoked. The culture of internet karsevaking and fanning emotions online SHOULD be stopped!

I know your position after the recent wash out of Congress and also the responses to your comemments. FYI, BJP is not led by Rahul Gandhi to admit such an absconder into the party.

Congress neta and ex mayor of Bangaluru metropolis, is fearful that the draconian, UAPA and PDPP act, will be Levied against him, for masterminding the horrendous, communal carnage besmirching the image of IT capital of our nation !! Non bailaable warrant (NBW) will tighten the noose around his neck !!! A similar diabolic carnage, was unleashed by AAP neta, Tahir Hussain, for meticulously planning the horrific vandalism in New Delhi !!!! The minimum sentence when convicted is 10 years (RI) Rigorous Imprisonment !!!!
