Kasargod, Nov 12: The high court of Kerala rejected the application of Manjeshwar MLA M C Qamaruddin requesting for cancellation of FIR concerning the cheating case of Fashion Gold International, in which the MLA stands arrested.

Qamaruddin's application for bail also was rejected on the morning of Thursday, November 123 by the Hosadurga magistrate court. This is another setback to the MLA.

The court opined that granting bail in the primary phase will cause obstacles in investigation. Prosecution had argued that giving bail to Qamaruddin during primary investigation will cause obstacle to investigation as already 70 cases are registered against him. It also highlighted that the MLA is an influential person in the society and may try to hatch a plot to divert the course of investigation. The Hosadurg court had rejected the bail application of Qamaruddin based on this argument put forward by the prosecution.

Bail application of Qamaruddin was moved with regards to the three cases that are registered in Chandera police station. The investigation team has confirmed his arrest in 11 more new cases. So far 128 complaints are filed on the tainted MLA. Out of this Qamaruddin is arrested in relation with 25 cases. As the Hosadurg court has rejected the bail application of MLA Qamaruddin, his lawyers are getting ready to approach high court.

Qamaruddin is the second accused in the Fashion Gold International fraud case. Prime accused T K Pookoya Thangal is absconding.
