Mangaluru, Nov 12: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, instructed the officials to take all necessary steps forthwith to pave way for smooth movement of vehicles of the general public on national highways.
He was speaking after chairing the progress review meeting of national highway works held on Wednesday November 11 at the auditorium of the office of the deputy commissioner.
"The task of filling potholes on the highway between Mani and B C Road Junction should be completed before November 30. At the same time, work to fill potholes on the road between Gundia and Addahole should be filled. Things needed to undertake repairs should be procured with the support of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. When executing these works, it should be ensured that no traffic problems arise," the deputy commissioner advised.
Noting that for undertaking four-lane concrete road between Addahole and Bantwal, 35 hectares of land from 680 owners belonging to 17 villages have been acquired, he asked the assistant commissioner and national highway officials to coordinate the work of issuing 3G awards to the owners as per land acquisition proceedings within the next ten days.
District superintendent of police, project director of NHAI, special land acquisition officer, Puttur sub-divisional officer and engineering department officials were present.
