Mumbai: Man who lost son in Malegaon blast urges court to restart trial

Mumbai, Nov 11: Nisar Bilal, who had lost his son in the 2008 Malegaon blast has submitted a plea before the special NIA court urging it to direct the prosecution to summon the witnesses and restart the trial. He said that the trial had commenced ten years after the date of the incident and that the victims were awaiting justice.

The plea said, "The prosecution is showing no intent to call witnesses and this Hon'ble court has been assigned especially to proceed with this matter, there is no overcrowding in this court, with Covid-19 safety and measures court may start recording of evidence and set examples for other courts."

Bilal has requested the court to issue directions to the prosecutions to summon witnesses from the next date of hearing which is November 26. The Malegaon blast which occured at Bhiku Chowk on September 29, 2008 left six persons dead and 101 injured.
