Udupi, Nov 9: MLA Raghupati on Monday, November 9 carried out the groundbreaking ceremony for the four-lane works along the Manipal-Ambagilu road. The project worth Rs 16 crore has been approved by the public works department (PWD) to develop the Manipal-Perampalli-Ambagilu road which has the highest traffic in Udupi.
The MLA stated that 7.32 acres of land have been acquired through TDR model for the four-lane road. “Those who have lost land will be issued TDR by the Urban Development Authority for twice the value of the land. Separate compensation will also be paid by the PWD for the house and boundary walls,” Bhat said.
“The work of the road has been entrusted to three contractors who have been directed to complete the task by the end of May 2021. Roads in Udupi were narrow in the past. Those have been developed in stages after I became the MLA. I have walked on the path of Dr V S Acharya and will continue to follow his ideals in the future as well. The traffic on Kalsanka-Gundibail road has become steady after the widening of the road was carried out,” he said.
“Forest department officials are hindering Brahmavar-Hebri four-lane works. Rs 1.26 crore has been already given to the department. Still, they continue to make excuses to remove the trees. It will be a setback for the development,” he lamented.
“Rs 5 crore from PWD have been approved for the construction of road from Shimbra bridge, Perampalli, Ramakatte, Sagri to Indrali junction. Rs 1 crore is approved from ST package. Rs 2 crore is released for applying tar on the road from Ambagilu to Tangadagadi near Nittur school. The work will begin soon,” he said.
