Unidentified persons booked for threatening Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, Nov 8: Police in the city here booked unidentified people on the charges of threatening, using abusive language and demanding extortion money from Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant. As per police, the calls began coming in two months ago and the chief minister started ignoring and disconnecting the calls. Following which, the accused began sending threatening messages. The chief minister’s office stated that the calls are being received from the United Kingdom and Gulf countries. Police said that the messages sent to Sawant contained abusive language against him and his family.

Further, the police said the accused threatened to kill the chief minister and his family if the ransom amount of Rs 50 lac was not paid.

PI Panaji Sudesh Naik said the FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC and investigation is in progress.
