Udupi, Nov 6: "Today everything is political for Congress party. When UPA was in power, under Jaganmohan Reddy's tenure, BJP leaders were kept in prison for years together. None of us said that the government is misusing CBI. Even when Janardhan Reddy was arrested BJP did not say anything. CBI is an autonomous institution. They are conducting investigation. Allow them to do their job. There is no need to fear if Vinay Kulkarni has not done anything wrong. Of late, if Congress leaders face CBI inquiry, they put the label on BJP of misusing CBI," said minister Jagadish Shettar.
Speaking to the reporters in the city, Shettar said, "KPCC president D K Shivakumar has gone to prison and come out on bail. None of the cases on him are quashed. How much wealth he had when he was MLA for the first time and how much he has now? Give information. If it is acquired through legal means, there is no need to fear. There is no reason for anyone to get scared if they have not done any wrong. Give up looking at everything in a partisan manner. Give opportunity for inquiry.”
Shettar said that Vinay Kulkarni case should be left to the CBI and they will look into it.
On the query by the scribes on the trip of D K Shivakumar to Delhi and rumours making rounds that Siddaramaiah is not cooperating with D K Shivakumar for the assembly bye elections, Shettar said, "This is the internal matter of Congress. They have difference between them since a long time. Siddaramaiah is trying to become chief minister (CM) once again, but some MLAs are supporting D K Shivakumar to become next CM. Only for the sake of elections they are together. Internally they nurse grudge against each other. There may be a big blow any time."
Shettar assured that he will look into the matter of Suzlon Company on the verge of deforesting 114 acres of Devarakadu forest and felling numerous trees. He said that an inquiry team will be formed to resolve the issue.
