Udupi, May 3: A new, well-equipped building of Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty English Medium School (MSRS) being run by Vidyavardhak Sangh Shirva in the district will be inaugurated by the state governor, H R Bharadwaj, on Thursday May 6. The building, built at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, has been named, ‘Justice K S Hegde Centenary Building’.
Vidyavardhak Sangh, which came into being in the year 1944 for providing the rural people access to quality education, presently runs seven educational institutions. “With the inaugural of the new building, another dream of the students from this rural area, and the educationists, will get realized,” said school convener, Mattar Ratnkar Hegde, speaking at a press conference held on Sunday May 2. School governing council president, N Nityanand Hegde was present.
MSRS took birth in the year 2007 to provide good education to the rural students at affordable cost. The school at present, has classes up to standard 4, but will be extended up to SSLC and pre university classes. In addition to following the CBSE syllabus, the school provides computer education, Yoga, training in Yakshagana, Bharatnatyam, classical music etc., that help students to develop integrated personalities.
The inaugural function, to be presided over by Nitte Unviersity chancellor, N Vinay Hegde, will be attended by Prafullata Bharadwaj, Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde, Dr B R Shetty, chairman, NMC, Abu Dhabi and Shekhar B Shetty, chairman of Arab Udupi Group of Hotels Abu Dhabi, in the capacity of chief guests. On this occasion, inauguration of ‘Kutyar Kanyana Bhoja Shetty Block’ and ‘Adve Jayaram Shetty Block’ will also be held, Hegde explained.
Nityanand Hegde said that the Sangh will soon introduce ‘Smart Class’ concept in this English medium school, where computer software will be used for giving effective education to the students.
Sangh secretary, Subbaiah Hegde, treasurer, Jagadish Arasa, MSRS College principal, Prof Y Bhaskar Shetty, vice principal, Dr Sudhakar Marla etc., were present at the press conference.
