Bengaluru, Oct 18: In a shocking incident, as much as 2.5 kg of gold has gone 'missing' from the cargo section of Kempegowda international godown.
The gold had been seized in various cases of smuggling and was stored in the airport gowdown. An FIR has been registered in this connection against five customs officials with the CBI-ACB of the city, based on the complaint given by M J Chetan, joint commissioner of customs.

The gold that was seized from passengers in the international airport here between June 2012 and December 2014 was kept in the MHB godown of the airport. During the internal investigation conducted by the vigilance officers of the customs department, it has come to light that 2.594 kg of gold that was seized in 13 different cases has gone missing from the godown.
A complaint was raised with the CBI against safety and incharge officials of the godown, to conduct investigation and take suitable action in this connection. Accordingly, an FIR against six people, including five customs officials was registered on October 12.
The customs officials who are named in the FIR are Vinod Chinnappa, assistant commissioner, customs and central excise, K Keshav , assistant commissioner, N J Ravishekhar, superintendent, Deenrex and K E Lingaraju.
