Madikeri, April 22 (DHNS): South Karnataka Salafi Movement will organise a district-level Salafi convention under the theme 'Islam for peace, not for confrontation’ in Virajpet on April 27.
Informing this at a press conference here on Thursday, the organisation’s District General Secretary K A Ahmed Ashim said the intention of the convention is to drive home the true messages of Islam.
“Though Islam is propagating peace, it has been subjected to an anti-propaganda. Those who want to live in a disturbed society are trying to defame Islam. This is happening in the global-level. Hence, the convention intends to give the real picture of Islam to the people,” he said.
“The Salafi organisation respects the Law of the Land. We have no separate flag. We do not disturb the public life by conducting processions and road blocks. We never raise meaningless slogans which spoil peace in the society. We do not support the Orthodox and we will not follow anti-religious activities to earn extra income. We welcome those who intend to understand the organisation with a closer view,” he said.
South Karnataka Salafi Movement’s office-bearer Ismail Shafi will inaugurate the convention at 10 am on April 27. The organisation’s central committee President Ahmed Ansar will preside.
