Mangalore, Apr 20: Evelyn Omoruddin, a citizen of Nigeria, got admitted into Unity Hospital here on January 13,2010 with the complication of Non Union of Right Femur & Left tibia. She had an RTA in 2000 and sustained fracture femur (R) and fracture tibia (L) & Fibula (L).
She had undergone several operations for the same in Nigeria with no positive results. She was unable to walk and remained confined to the bed for the last about ten years.
Evelyn was referred to Unity Hospital by her colleague, Benedict, who had earlier undergone shoulder replacement surgery for his shoulder problem. On his advice, Evelyn travelled all the way from Nigeria for getting her health problem treated here. After thorough medical examination, the surgical team of Unity Hospital comprising Dr Sachidananda Rai, Dr Dinesh Kadam, Dr Suresh Bhat, Dr Sanjay Shahri and Dr Mohd Ismail planned for a plating and Vascularised Febular Graft for the Femural Non Union and Inter Locking Nailing for tibial non union. After six weeks of surgery, Evelyn was able to walk with the help of crutches.
Now, she is able to move around with the help of crutches. She was very happy with the outcome and got discharged on April 12, 2010.
