Bengaluru, Oct 8: BJP national general secretary C T Ravi has been instructed by the central leaders to function for now as the in-charge of four southern states.
Ravi had taken part in a meeting chaired by the BJP national president J P Nadda. In the meeting Ravi was told to function as the in-charge of southern states, it is learnt. Ravi will therefore be in-charge of Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. He will be in charge of organizing the party in these states in addition to union territories, Puducherry and Lakshadweep. It is said that this is purely a temporary arrangement and once the Bihar poll is over the BJP national team members will be given specific responsibilities.
Former national general secretary P Muraleedhar Rao has been kept out of the current J P Nadda team. In the absence of Muraleedhar, Ravi may be looking after the party affairs in Karnataka for now. But there is no possibility of appointing him as in-charge of BJP in Karnataka as the party has never appointed people as in-charge of their own state units, BJP top sources reported.
It is learnt that discussions were held to give responsibility of media in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states to national spokesperson of the party, Rajiv Chandashekhar.
