Mangaluru: Web portal Cyber Safe Girl v3.0 launched to create awareness on online safety

Mangaluru, Oct 4: A first of its kind web portal for 'Cyber Safe Girl v3.0' online was released on October 3, by the home secretary Roopa D, IPS and Sandalwood star Kiccha Sudeep online. The Cyber Safe Girl is a unique free online web learning portal for Indians where one can get information about cyber safety tips, awareness about how various cyber threats and scam takes place and how to do responsible internet browsing. The portal also allows the user to get the 'I AM CYBER SAFE' certification by taking the online assessment through a simple user interface which can be accessed using any electronic device such as tab, mobile or a computer. The course consists of 30 modules entailing animated movies, lecture series and relevant sections of the IT Act and other related acts with each module comprising an online test. The website is currently running on beta mode.



The portal is curated by Dr Ananth Prabhu G professor at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru. He is also a cybersecurity trainer and well known for his immense work in the field of cyber laws and cybersecurity. He is also a trainer for Karnataka Judicial Academy and Karnataka Police Academy. Also, the Cyber Safe Girl v3.0 book is available to download for free.

Dr Ananth Prabhu says that with the whole world moving online, the need for responsible browsing is very crucial as, during the pandemic, there has been a sudden spike in cases of online fraud, scams and threats. Hence this portal plays an important role in creating the required awareness among people of all generation and especially to those who are new to the online mode and have little to no knowledge about the cause and mode of fraudulence in the digital world. Dr Prabhu encouraged everyone to get educated with this awareness to create a cyber-safe country. Also, he plans to conduct much hands-on training at the newly set up Center of Excellence for Cyber Security at Sahyadri.

The portal has been designed and developed by his research assistant Rohan Don Salins with the inputs by Sanjay Sahay Retd ADGP, Reena Suvarna ACP Bengaluru and Vaikunt Prabhu.
