Mangaluru, Oct 3: The property return parade of Mangaluru city commissionerate under the aegis of police commissioner Vikas Kumar Vikash was held at police grounds on Saturday October 3.
Property worth Rs 9.05 crore including jewellery, vehicles, that were stolen under various police station limits of the city, which were recovered in the year 2019-20, were handed over to the rightful owners during the programme.
Among the Rs 9.05 crore, property worth Rs 5.37 crore was recovered. In the programme, property worth Rs 1.49 crore was handed over to rightful owners which included 2.277 kg gold, 25 two-wheelers, 19 mobile phones, 11 other properties and Rs 48,13,951 cash.
Speaking on the occasion, police commissioner Vikas Kumar said, "After taking permission from the court, property return parade is conducted here to return property worth Rs 1.49 crore to the rightful owners.
He also said, “Traffic problem is an important issue here in the city as some of the roads are very narrow and there is increase in the number of vehicles. After one month of field study and assessment, we have identified places of parking and no parking. Signage will be installed and people should follow the same. Heavy penalty will be levied for violation of no parking rules and vehicles will be towed.”
Regarding drugs case, the police commissioner said, "The investigation is under progress. We will look into every detail and probe further. Once the investigation is over, we will look into issuing notice to the concerned parties.”
