Fremont, Apr 14: The three finals (Platinum, Gold and Silver) of the CricBay-Remit2India Fall Open were recently held at the Thornton Junior High School grounds and Mariners Park in Foster City.
Based on the league games, the participating teams had been divided into the three categories.
The Platinum final was won by ‘Spartans’ who defeated the ‘Kings’. The Gold final saw ‘The Immortals’ triumph over ‘TCC’ and the Silver final had ‘Cheers CC’ trouncing ‘Wisden CC’.
This tournament marked the fourth successive year of CricBay and saw the participation of 68 teams.
Started in 2006, CricBay, a platform for the cricketers, by the cricketers and of the cricketers, has fast gained in popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Having started with 28 teams, the organization is run by volunteers, who work tirelessly to make this form of weekend cricket not only enjoyable but highly competitive.
The backbone of the organization is the website www.cricbay.com which contains everything from forums to blogs to statistical data of teams and individual players.
Remit2India.com were the sponsors and Dish Network was the co-sponsor. Swathi Tiffins (http://www.swathitiffins.com) sponsored free food for the audience which comprised of more than 200 people from all around the Bay Area.
Dignitaries present at the event included Gurdeep Suri, country Manager-USA, TimesofMoney Inc. of The Times Group representing Remit2India.com, Sam Rao, bureau in-charge, West Coast, The Indian Express North America/ CineMaya Media, and Raj Padhi, West Coast representative of United States of America Cricket Association.
