Udupi, Sec 28: MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, said that chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, has passed instruction to the finance department to release a sum of Rs 40 crore to Udupi district to undertake flood relief measures.
A delegation of legislators from the district, Halady Srinivas Shetty, Lalaji R Mendon, V Sunil Kumar, and B M Sukumar Shetty, had met the chief minister and requested him to release a special package to the district under natural disaster.
The chief minister, in response, instructed principal secretary in the department finance, I S N Prasad, to release Rs 40 crore in the first phase. At the BJP legislature party meeting too, the losses suffered by the district due to natural disaster had been informed, he said.

"Technical problems have been encountered in getting financial assistance of the government to auto and taxi drivers disbursed. At the house, the chief minister was urged to address the problem and see that all eligible persons get the assistance," Bhat said.
