Udupi, Sep 26: “Five persons have been arrested regarding rowdy-sheeter Kishan Hegde murder case,” informed Udupi superintendent of police Vishnuvardhan on Saturday September 26.
Addressing media, he said, “Four teams had been constituted for the search of the accused. The arrested are Manoj Kulal (37), Chittaranjan Poojary (27), Chethan yane Chethu Padil (27), Ramesh Poojary (38), and Deekshith Shetty yane Devi Prasad (29).
“All the five are rowdy-sheeters and cases have been filed upon them at various police stations. Three cars have been confiscated by them which were used for the crime. The murder took place due to personal rivalry and financial matters between Manoj and Kishan Hegde.
“The accused had chased Kishan Hegde from Mangaluru.
“Cases have been registered against the five accused at different police stations.”A total of 17 cases including two murder, assault and life-threatening cases have been reported against Manoj Kulal in Mangaluru, Suratkal, Panambur, Kavoor, Barke, Mulki and Bajpe police stations. Manoj and Chethan are also rowdy sheeters. There are four cases registered against Kishan himself.
“Five cases are registered against Chittaranjan Poojary at Suratkal, Mulki, Karkala city police stations, and five cases against Chethan at Kadri, Bajpe and Kavoor police station limits. One case each booked against Ramesh Poojary at Bantwal rural station, and Deekshith Shetty and Deviprasad at Suratkal station
“All five accused were produced before the session court judge in the evening. All weapons which were used in the murder will be seized soon by the police.
“Kishan Hegde was also a real estate businessman by profession. We are investigating the case in all possible angles. There are more accused in the case and will be arrested soon," he said.
The SP further said, "We have instructed shop and building owners to install CCTV cameras in public places where there is movement of more than 100 people, which will help us investigate cases of crime. We will make it happen at the earliest in the district.
Additional SP Udupi Kumarachandra, ASP Jai Shankar, DSP Ananthapadhmanabh, Circle inspector Brahmavar ASI's Krishnappa, HC Vasu, Vasu Poojary, Manjunath, SI Manipal Manjappa, circle inspector DCIB Mahesh Prasad, circle inspector Kaup and other police personnel were part of the operation.
