Mysuru, Sep 18: Education minister Suresh Kumar on Friday September 18 said that schools will open on September 21 but classes will not. He added that the process of admission of children from first to tenth standards must be completed by September 30.
He was speaking after inaugurating a central library at the state's cultural capital Mysuru. The library is located at Nazarbad here. Suresh Kumar and district in-charge minister S T Somashekhar jointly dedicated the library to the world. The inaugural of the library had been on the cards for the last two years. The central library has been set up at a cost of Rs 5.34 crore. Local MLAs joined hands with the two ministers in the inaugural.
Suresh Kumar asked private schools to collect only fee for single term from parents, adding that the deputy directors of public instruction or block educaiton officers will take steps if there is any problem on this front.
"We have instructed the schools properly. Parents facing any problem can contact the block educiton officer," he said.
He expressed happiness about the positive developments in the state, and appreciated the fact that the parents are admitting children into government schools. He said that the government will provide necessary facilities irrespective of the number of students gettng admitted into the government schools. He warned private schools that if they fail to issue transfer cerificates, the same would be got done through the block education officers.
"Wherever I go, the children keep asking me when the schools will roepen. But parents are stilapprehensive. Out department will take steps to address their concerns," he added.
Speaking about the change of chief minister int he state, Kumar said that there is no such possibility in the state. He confirmed that Yediyurappa will continue to be the chief minsiter of Karnataka. About the minsitry expansion, he said it falls under the absolute discretion of the chief minister and it is up to him to decide.
