Bangalore: Apr 6 (DHNS) : Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday deferred the announcement of hike in milk prices. The announcement is likely to be made in a day or two.
“We held a meeting with the chief minister and appraised him about the need for the hike. He is likely to announce it shortly. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has sought a hike of Rs 4 per litre,” KMF Chairman Somashekara Reddy said after the meeting.
By increasing the milk prices for the consumers, the Government will be able to increase the procurement price to dairy farmers.
This will, in turn, help the ruling party in the coming gram panchayat elections, sources said.
