Vasco, Apr 3: The launching of house listing and housing enumeration for Census and National Population Register-2011 was launched formally in Vasco constituency at the hands of the Revenue Minister, Mr Jose Philip D’Souza on Friday morning.
The South Goa district collector, Mr Gokuldas Naik, additional collector, South, Mr Yeshwant Tavde, deputy collector and sub-divisional magistrate, Mormugao, Mr Sanjeev Desai, newly appointed Mormugao mamlatdar, Mr Rajesh Azgaonkar, awwal karkun, Mr Manoj Korgaonkar, census officer, Mr S G Satarkar, enumerator, Mr Vishwas Satardekar, Ms Neny D’Souza besides others were present for the launching function which was held at Mr D’Souza’s residence.
The registering of names by the enumerators enrolled will continue till May 15 wherein for Mormugao urban areas in all 263 enumerators including supervisors have been appointed by the district administration while for Mormugao rural areas in all 101 enumerators including supervisors have been appointed.
Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, Mr D’Souza informed that the national population register is a comprehensive identity database in the country and it would not only strengthen security of the country but would also help in better targeting of the benefits and services under the government schemes/programmes and improve planning.
After launching the house listing and housing enumeration census in Vasco, Mr D’Souza called upon the people to co-with operate the enumerator team. He informed that the information provided by the house members should be genuine and it should contain correct spelling alphabets in order to avoid any further inconvenience to them.
The district collector, South, Mr Gokuldas Naik informed that the supervisors have been directed to random check the spellings and the names of the persons while listing in the national population register.
The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has undertaken work of house to house verification of photographs and other details of the electors from Photo Electoral Rolls in all the 40 assembly constituencies of Goa through the respective Deputy Collectors/EROs and Mamlatdars/AEROs with the help of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the concerned part of the assembly constituency as per the directives of the Election Commission.
The Booth Level Officers will conduct house to house visits in the respective part of the assembly constituency to verify the photo and other particulars of the electors including names, relation’s name, age, gender and EPIC number.
The booth level officers have started the work with effect from March 22 and will conclude the same on April 12.
