Sep 10: DK reports 350 new corona cases, 227 in Udupi, 13 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 10: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, September 10 recorded an addition of 350 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths, while Udupi recorded 227 new cases and two deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,112 positive cases have been reported to date, out of which 3,273 are currently active. A total of 1,14,543 samples have been tested so far, out of which 98,431 are negative.

As many as 12,412 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 170 on Thursday. A total of 427 deaths have occurred so far, including nine on Thursday.

Among the 350 new cases, 119 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 27 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 104 cases are under investigation. As many as 168 out of the 350 are asymptomatic.

Out of the 350 cases, as many as 154 are from Mangaluru, 56 from Bantwal, 48 from Beltangady, 26 from Puttur, 13 from Sullia and 53 are from outside DK district.

All the nine patients who died on Thursday had comorbidities. Among the deceased, five were reported to be from Mangaluru, two from Beltangady and one from Bantwal and one from outside the district.


Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 7,299 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 56 fresh admissions on Thursday, while a total of 6,269 people are in home isolation, including 171 new on Thursday.

As many as 11,552 people, including 210 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation so far. These include 6,336 from hospital isolation wards and 5,216 from home isolation.

A total of 81,364 samples have been collected so far, including 560 on Thursday, out of which 342 are COVID suspects and 116 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 67,475 have turned out to be negative, including 384 on Thursday, and 317 reports are awaited.

As many as 13,572 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 227 on Thursday, and 1,897 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 126 deaths have occurred so far, including four on Thursday.

Among the 227 new cases, 119 are in Udupi, 42 in Kundapur, 56 in Karkala, and 10 from outside the district. Among them, 58 have ILI, nine have been diagnosed with SARI, and 36 are under investigation. Out of the 227 cases, 106 are asymptomatic.

The four patients who died on Thursday had comorbidities. The deceased include a 68-year-old male from Karkala and a 66-year-old male, a 65-year-old male and a 41-year-old female from Udupi.
